【Limited Time Special Experience】Horyuji Shotoku Kaikan Copying Sutras and Buddha Experience
Limited time offer from 3rd of October.
This is the first experience of copying sutras and Buddha (Shakyo, Shabutu) held at Horyuji Temple.
It is the origin of Buddhism in Japan, with the oldest original Hannya Shinkyo written in Sanskrit characters being handed down to the world cultural heritage site “Horyuji.” At this Horyuji Temple, you can experience valuable sutras or Buddha copying where you can touch the spirit and culture of Buddhism.
※Shakyo, Shabutu is a Buddhist training of copying Buddhist scriptures to another paper.

2023 10/3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26
● Time
Please come to the Shotoku Kaikan between 10:00 and 15:00. Closed at 16:00.
●This is the first time to hold the experience of copying sutras and Buddha statues at Horyuji Temple, so please take the sutras and Buddha pictures you have experienced home with you as amulets.
●Tools such as original paper of sutras, buddha and brushes cannot be taken home.
●Price
2,500 yen per person (tax included)
Please choose whether copying sutras or buddha. If you want to copy both, another 2500yen will be needed.
●Entrance fee
No entrance fee is needed to go in to Shotoku Kaikan.
(Please refrain from entering if you are not participating in the experience.)

Digital art will be held from 10/21 (Sat) to 11/5 (Sun) from 18:00 to 21:00 on the theme of “Horyuji 1400 Year Historic Heritage to the Future,” and a one-day special illumination of the Horyuji precincts will be held on 10/28 (Sat). (No fee needed)
