Details of the experience

◎Zen Meditation and Dharma Talk
Step away from your busy daily life in a dedicated Zen meditation hall. Here, you'll engage in a meditation experience and attend a Dharma talk, providing a chance to quiet your mind and connect with your inner self.
◎Historic Temple Lodging (Shukubo)
Your accommodation is a remarkable building constructed approximately 400 years ago. You'll be able to savor its ambiance, rich with nostalgia and romance, as you admire the splendid fusuma-e (sliding door paintings) and gaze upon the tranquil courtyard through wavy, Taisho-era glass.
◎Monk-Led Night Walk
Embark on a special night walk guided by a Buddhist monk. Stroll through the mystical and enchanting sacred Mount Shigi, beautifully illuminated by lanterns, as your monk guide shares insights into its profound history and spiritual significance.
◎Ancient Goma Fire Ritual
You'll have the rare opportunity to participate in the Goma fire ritual, which has been performed every morning for an incredible 1,100 years at Senjuin Temple. This secret practice, passed down through generations at Shigi-san Senjuin, is considered the most sacred and efficacious among the prayers dedicated to Bishamonten-o, the revered Buddhist deity.

6:00 PM: Dinner (Shōjin Ryōri - traditional Buddhist vegetarian cuisine)
6:30 PM: Night walk

6:15 AM: Goma Fire Ritual (Homa)
7:00 AM: Breakfast
8:00 AM: End of breakfast, free time

Schedule is subject to change: The provided itinerary is a tentative plan and may be adjusted based on circumstances.
Main building accommodation: Your stay is planned for the main building.
Interpreter guide required: An accompanying interpreter guide is mandatory for this experience.
Dietary restrictions: We regret to inform you that we cannot accommodate vegan or gluten-free dietary requests. Please note that our shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) may include bonito (fish) broth.
Children's meals: If you require a reduced-portion meal for children, please discuss this with us in advance.
Dining location: Both dinner and breakfast will be served in the new building's dining hall.
No refunds for cancelled night walk: In the event the night walk is canceled due to inclement weather, no refunds will be issued.
