Details of the experience

It is 1,400 years since the Asuka Period, when kawara/tiles were first made. Also known as the ‘Museum of Tiles’, Horyu-ji Temple is a World Heritage Site.
It can be said that the entire history of roof tiles can be found at Horyu-ji.
Experience the culture of the time and the spiritual culture of Japan through roof tiles, including the beauty of the roof tile formations, the meaning of the patterns and the beauty of the buildings with roof tiles.
After visiting the temple, have lunch the Ikaruga Speciality Tatsutaage Lunch, which is served in a renovated café in the residence where Kitabatake Harufusa, a judicial officer during the late Edo and Meiji Restoration periods, lived in seclusion in his later years. ※For PM starts, you are going to have a special sweet instead of tatsuta-age.
You can choose either morning or afternoon start.

10:00 (14:00) Meet in front of Nandaimon/The south gate of Horyuji Temple and meet your guide. 
 ⇒ The tour starts.
11:00 (15:00) Finish ⇒ Lunch (at Japanese café Fukokuen) with an interpreter guide. The English-speaking guide ends the tour here.

11:10 (15:10) Local speciality ‘Tatsuta-age’ lunch at Japanese café Fukokuen ※For PM starts, you are going to have a special sweet instead of tatsuta-age.
