Genkuro Inari Shrine
Tourist attractions
The enshrined deities are Uka no Mitama no Kami (Ukemochigami) and Genkuro Inari Daimyojin, one of the three major Inari shrines in Japan.
It is well known that when Minamoto no Yoshitsune escaped to Yoshino, the white fox sent his concubine Shizuka to him and gave him the name 'Genkuro' as a token of gratitude. That is where the shrine name came from.
Every year during the castle festival, children wear white robes with fox masks and parade through the town called "Byakko Togyo".
