Yatadera Temple
Tourist attractions
This temple complex was founded in 679 after Emperor Tenmu fled here during a civil war and prayed for victory. The main hall and Kaisando are lined up in the large precincts, and many important cultural properties are stored, including the wooden Jizo Bodhisattva statue of the principal idol.
Also known as Hydrangea Temple, 10,000 hydrangea flowers of about 60 species bloom in the precincts during the June-July season.
